Professional Development

Supporting the use of Media Awareness Network's Passport to the Internet
for Gr. 4 - 8
Alberta Education has licensed Passport to the Internet and the Web Awareness Workshop series from the Media Awareness Network for use by educators and their students.

As a cooperative effort to support teachers in the understanding and use of the Passport to the Internet online student interactive, the 2Learn.ca Provincial Team will be offering a set of 1 hour sessions to address the 5 components of the Web Awareness series.

Each session will be offered via videoconference or web conferencing and will be followed by an online discussion, for the sharing of engaging teaching ideas, resources and follow-up questions. For each component, the Passport to the Internet online interactive and how it relates to a student's active online life will be addressed.

Sign-up for these sessions will be posted in late August, 2010. Teachers can select the specific component they wish to explore, or take all of them. The group discussions for each of the components will be open to all interested educators.
